So I'm moving. From New York City to Alaska. I'm leaving my Park Avenue, exposed brick dwelling where I live within a two mile radius of almost anything I could ever want, to a "bush" village of 400, accessible only by water and air.
In August of 2008 I moved from New York City to rural Alaska. I teach 4th and 5th grade in a tiny community surrounded by winding rivers and vast tundra. We don't have roads, cell phone service, stores or restaurants and time is almost always on our side. It's a dreamlike existence.
